Why these situations?
These are research-informed themes, chiefly from youth sport. Stage and performing arts scenes are practical adaptations, not separate research findings or a ranked list of what every teenager faces. The scenes are illustrative. The game links research themes to short coaching exercises. Studies on a psychological idea do not validate a particular Changefully acronym or this digital experience. This is a reflective practice tool, not a diagnostic assessment or treatment.
- IOC youth athlete consensus (2024) discusses developmental needs, pressure and supportive environments. Its elite Olympic context does not represent every athlete.
- Xu et al. (2024) studied perfectionism, motivation, coping and burnout in adolescent athletes. The cross-sectional design cannot prove cause and effect.
- Teen handball study (2020) examined motivational climate, fear of failure and competitive anxiety.
- Youth athlete social media study (2023) examined upward comparison and mental health. The wider comparison scene here is an illustrative extension.
- American Academy of Pediatrics report (2024) reviews overtraining, burnout, enjoyment and the sport environment.
- Adolescent football athlete study (2024) examined social support, stress and mental health. The exclusion scenario illustrates one possible social difficulty; it is not a direct result of that study.
- Three-wave adolescent athlete study (2026) examined appearance-related social media, body dissatisfaction and competitive anxiety in a Chinese sample. Its associations do not establish a universal causal pattern.
- Adolescent ACL return study (2023) considers psychological readiness after injury. Return decisions require individual medical guidance.
NOW MOMENTS, ACDC and 6A are Changefully frameworks. The descriptions in this version are plain-language coaching applications for Jeff to review. The research supports related skills such as attention, coping and supportive environments; it does not prove this game improves performance or wellbeing.
Clinical review of performance anxiety in young athletes (2025) ↗ distinguishes everyday nerves from anxiety that causes persistent distress or impairment and reviews psychological treatments. The IOC youth consensus ↗ stresses that the environment and adults around the athlete matter too. A teenager should not be expected to self-coach through bullying, unsafe demands, injury or health concerns.
